The owners David and John say they can’t wait to see SOLAS on Nationwide
We are delighted to announce that Solas will feature on National TV, 20th September
RTE camera crews paid us a visit over the summer & the whole event will feature on Nationwide from 7pm on Monday
It was an amazing day had by all. So why not grab some popcorn, dim the lights and settle in for a TV treat
Presenter Mary Fanning took in the whole experience that SOLAS Eco Garden Centre and Food Market has to offer and well as going on a tour through our greenhouse, plants areas and large eco store.
“It is such an iconic programme which captures so much that is good about Ireland and offers an unbeatable platform for businesses and communities.
We are doing what we can at SOLAS to provide a true destination for and the many, many visitors from all over the country who come to us as well as offering a showcase for local producers and communities in Co. Laois. We are literally over the moon to feature on Nationwide, we truly couldn’t ask for better publicity,” they said.
Nationwide airs on RTE 1 next Monday evening, September 22, at 7pm.
This Wednesday 25th August Solas is hosting a hospitality evening for locally businesses & tourist attractions
The evening will kick off at 7pm and run for 2hrs until 9pm. Refreshments, Food, snacks & beverage will be served from our food court on the day
We feel it is a great opportunity for us to showcase what we have on offer here at Solas as well as celebrate our recent opening
We are now running weekly training courses in gardening & crafts for adults & kids, These have proven hugely sucessful, many courses selling out in hours
Our farmers market which runs every Saturday is the perfect setting to allow us showcase the best food & crafts from the local area & was recently visited by none other than gardening legend & TV personality Diarmuid Gavin
Our eco store is an ideal retreat for people arriving into Portarlington & maybe have a few hours to pass. This 22000Sq.ft complex was recently resorted from a rundown, derelict warehouse.
& our spacious food court built entirely from recycled materials is the perfect space to unwind & with live music every Sunday we hope to create a tourist destination right here in Portarlington
But that is not all
We hope to open a green energy information facility in the coming months
We are working with our farmers market partners to set up a eco retail shop selling the best of their food & craft selections
we are installing electic car charging points & solar panels throughout our garden centre
And to further promote tourism in the area, we plan to 40ft map of Laois / Offaly / Kildare showcasing the best these counties have to offer
